Oslo Urban Week 2021: Density And Adaptive Reuse
Learnings from New York and Copenhagen
The creative reuse of existing buildings and uses is a fundamental requirement for the future of urban developments.
In this session Jared Della Valla will talk through examples on how adaptive reuse was fundamental to the success of the neighbourhood of Dumbo, and how they developed one of the most complex sites in New York City through leveraging density, good design and by building trust within the community. Jared Della Valla leads Alloy, an architect led development company based in Dumbo, New York City.
Kristian Ahlmark from Schmidt Hammer Lassen will provide a Scandinavian context, with examples of creative reuse from Copenhagen and Oslo.
